Hines Oregon

Burns Oregon

Hines Lumber Mill

Hines Oregon is just South of and adjacent to Burns Oregon. Hines was designed and built by the owners of the Hines Lumber Company to house workers at their mill. The town and mill were established in 1928-1931. The mill began drastically curtailing operations in 1980 and was sold in 1983. One building on the mill property is still in use but most of the mill has been abandoned/demolished. The town of Hines is now effectively a suburb of Burns. As I was leaving the mill area in 2012, a man drove up in a truck and told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures. I'm pretty sure that taking photographs from a public road is always legal but I didn't argue.
